Greetings Forum Members,
For the past two months, I have been reading post after post to fix some of my AC tractors. Well, now it is time to repay....I figured that the repairs that I make from now on might come in handy with some photos and documentation. First up, a 6080. We lost the PTO the other day when grinding feed. Pulled up on the main level, and the gears ground, and then nothing. I feared the worst, but it was a simple roll pin. Everything timed well with a fluid change, so I removed the Parking brake lever to see inside. The PTO mechanism is pretty simple, with a collar being pushed over the main shaft. Luckily, nothing was broken inside, but I never pass up an opportunity to open up a piece of equipment. The Picture below shows the PTO lever and connecting rod. The tip of the shear pin cab be seen just above the upper right most bolt hole of the brake cover. The Parking brake is pretty simple as well. Three brake pads with a simple lever activation. Getting it back in, so that the center pad was in-between the two disks on the main drive shaft was a pain. All is back together, the PTO works, the engine is happy with new fluids and filters. Thank you to all who have helped solve my other tractor problems this summer. John |
