is it possible to put a sherman or some other hi/lo on a WD or does it only work on the WC because of the lack of hand clutch? I would like to have a little more speed for tractor rides since I'm usually running wide open and just barely keeping up, would like to keep stock tire size

The last tractor drive I was on with my 45 I was running wide open and got left in the dust. That's not my idea of a tractor drive.

If everybody did like our club did, you wouldn't have a problem. A stock WD45 was first in line and instructions were to follow that guy and keep some space between tractors

Bigger tires would be the easiest way to get more speed, the WD45 driven back from Ashton ID to Rolog in about 95 or 96 had 38's on it and went 18 MPH

A WD45 with good 14.9 x 28 rear tires is supposed to do 12 mph at 1400 rpm which would translate into 14 1/2 mph at 1700 rpm wide open throttle. If you put a D17 governor spring/plunger in it, the engine speed will increase to 2000 rpm and ground speed then will be 17 mph.
