I acquired a 3x 12 AC lighted sign a while back. and just dug it out of storage so I can hang it in my new barn. My Question is what voltage did these signs use? I tried is on 110v but only 2 of the 6 foot tubes partially light. any body know anything about these type of signs?

Signs can be any voltage, from 120Vac to typicality 277V. There should be a tag on the ballast somewhere that tells you what input voltage it is looking for. It could be that it is a multi voltage ballast, and you will be lucky, or it could be fixed at 277, then you have a little work to do. Once you know what voltage you are looking for, then we can help you out. It could also be that the dealer just didn't put new bulbs in for the last few years, since they knew they were closing, and the bulbs are bad, but let's not guess, till we know the input voltage.

I Tried to read the label on the ballast but most of of it is missing and what is left is unreadable. I tried all the tubes in the spot that the 2 would partially light and all 6 tubes light the same so I think they are good. any more suggestions?

Welllllllllll? If I were there, I would try some things, but since it is electricity, I don't think I want to talk you through it over the web. Can you post some pics of the ballast?

I hate to say it, but it might be better to have an electrician look at it. I know we're all DIY kinda guys but this might be a case where one wrong move could screw up your sign.

I have the same sign and its plugged into a 120V wall outlet. It needed new bulbs when I got it. Worst case you may need new ballast if new bulbs don't light up.

I would be rather suprised if it's 277 volt. My guess would be some parts need replacing.

Are there starters for the bulbs? You might just need to replace those. That could be a cheap easy fix.

Send it to me and I will fix it. BTW I will need to keep it for an undetermined amount of time. LOL

Sounds like a ballast issue but if the bulbs are dark at the ends you could try new bulbs ive seen old bulbs sorta light but never get bright just kinda flicker
