 Topic: 8000 governor response

This has probably been kicked around before but while I am into the governor of the 8030 is there anything I can do to make it more responsive. Our 7020 had a very responsive governor as does our Deere equipment but our 50 and 30 is almost nonexistent. Maybe the adjustment that Ed and the Dr. told me to do is the key?? That was to adjust the tension nut on the governor rod to stop the fluttering. Maybe this is just wishful thinking and maybe it needs to be on the dyno to do this but it sure would be nice to improve the response. the fluttering is a governor too sensitive, so tightening the spring makes it even less sensitive. Upon rebuild, spring shimming can be set differently to help with sensitivity, but the M100 will never be as responsive as a Roosa.

The governor on an AmBach pump is "dead" compared to a RoosaMaster regardless what you do to it. Live with it or change it to a RoosaMaster.

Neighbor put a pump from a 7050 on his 8050 took alot of work but it was do able. He really liked his results.

If your going to go through the trouble of changing it to a roosa then you might as well put an A series Bosch inline on it, they both would require removing front cover and changing the idler gear, Kcgrain has the pumps and adapters, Trust me you will never go back to an AMBAC 100, Just don't get wild with the fuel setting, 180 HP max.

Was the switch from Roosa to the AMBosch because of hard starting issues or were there other reasons. What advantages does the bosch have over the roosa if any? Was there a cost savings to go with bosch? I guess I just don’t understand the switch. If you don’t have good governor response you are loosing productivity I was looking at the Nebraska test and the lugging hp was terrible on the 8000’s. Did someone mess up and if so why wasn’t it addressed? I guess I am just trying to rap my head around this, maybe even venting a little although I’m not sure why. I really like our Allis tractors better than our Deere which is ten years newer. rieg

Started better and less smoke, if you go back to the roosa you will have more smoke.

EPA was starting to rear it's ugly head. It was an emmissions move not an improvement.

The nozzle opening pressures kept being raised to cut down on smoke, and the Model 100 tolerates high opening pressures better than a Roosa.

Let me clarify one thing about the M-100 AmBach governor characteristics.....at wide open throttle they are fine. At less than say 2000 rpm, they are noticeably less responsive than other brands. Anyone who has ever driven an IH1066, remembers having to keep tapping up the throttle when taking off in a big gear.
