Its been a while since Ive been on here, but I can't find anything about this in search anymore so Im going to ask again. I have a 7060 with worn spindle bushings. I ordered new bushings and washers, but need to get the steering arms off. I heated one up with a rosebud, but only had it red in a couple places since I was running out of oxygen. Then I dumped a couple 5 gallon buckets of water on it... and nothing. Not enough heat or did I do something wrong?

get two torches with rosebuds to get er hot!! she needs to be glowing all around. then beat the heck outta with with a hammer, 4lbs hammer or so, hit on the back side/tie rod side, be prepared to hit it for a while, you can douce it in cold water, but when i did ours i didnt really notice a difference, key is to get it as hot as you can.

Remove the front tire/wheel. Remove the tie rod from the arm. Remove the axle knee from the axle and turn it upside down and reinstall it. Let the tractor down on a solid support and beat on it from above instead of underneath. I've seldom used any heat this way.

I beat on it a little, but was affraid of swelling the spindle shaft. If I flip the spindle over  do I let the spindle set on something or just the axle tube and beat on the arm?

If the top of the shaft is mushroomed even a little it won't come off,BTDT,I used a belt sander around the top of the shaft.
Why do today what you can put off til tomorrow.

Yeah, but what I was trying to understand was if you were resting the tractor weight on the axle or on the spindle that is upside down. I ended up resting it on the spindle to use the tractor weight with my hammer force. It moved it but im gonna need to go get some more oxygen.

No don't set it on the spindel. Set support under axel housing. The shaft has a key and the key won't go through the bushing.   MACK
