i have a continung supply of commercial tree trimmings being dropped off in steaming piles (below). we've been spreading them out and letting nature decompose them to A. prevent weed growth, and B. to enrich our poor sandy silt soil.
but that was in "pre-tractor" days. i now have a 52CA and would like to help nature along speeding up the decomposition. the material as delivered has been run through a large commercial chipper/shredder and is quite coarse. so the question is: is there an affordable implement i could attach to the CA to shed it up a little finer? btw someone else is bagging it up for sale, and that's also under consideration. would be worth a lot more if the "particles" were smaller rather than coarse chunks. sure would like to help my beloved CA earn her keep... |

Spread it out about 6" deep, plow it under, disc it a couple of days later, add water. Repeat once a month. I just happen to have a plow and disc to trade for something of interest :)
