He should have the bidder registration sheet from the auction. I wasn't there, so I can't say what exactly would be listed. I mean, when you got your bidder number did you have to give them your name and address and a credit card number or something? At the least, it should have a first name last name. So, what you could do is ask him for the name and information on the guy who had #3 bidder number. It seems that Tom remembered the number of the tan amish guy as #3. So, if this guy really had anything to do with it, the police could get his information from the auctioneer, and if anyone has the information from the scrap guy who said he had bought the stuff for scrap from the Amish guy, then, you could make a case. It seems there are enough people on here that paid close attention to the bidders (as we all are interested in the Orange) and to the machinery, that you might be able to nab someone on this. Also, I am not familiar with the area, but there would either be a scrap yard with a lot of orange paint in it, or a farm somewhere with a lot of orange machines that I am sure someone could identify, since we all pay very close attention to orange machinery. I know I have seen equipment on craigslist, and have ID'ed it at auctions later, because I pay attention to that stuff. I am sure a few people who saw the blower could ID it if they saw it again. It may sound like a long shot, but you know that someone local would be the most likely suspect as they are familiar enough with the area to know how to blend in and not look suspicious, or just plain feel comfortable enough with the surroundings to have the cajones to pull off the theft.

Wow, you lost your forage blower? CALL THE COPS! I think this can be pursued. Carl knows the scrap man and the mystry "Amish" guy was bidder #3. Two people who should be talked to. I cant report anything stolen as that mower was not bought by me. But rest assured if this was me I would be calling. This looks like an opportunity to nail one of these SOB's, so lets do it. You dont go stealing and scrapping Orange!

I fortunately got all my and my fathers stuff that day, but I will get in touch with Mike..the guy who bought the plow and cultivators that were scrapped and see if he wants to persue this and really hang that theiving bastard

With no disrespect to ANYONE but we all know to get our items OUT A.S.A.P. so that some low life dose not take it.We are told this at BEGINING of EVERY Auction.Just let this be a LESSON to anyone that lets items behind.Think twice about buying if you think it will not be there when you return or try to get someone else to haul it for you. It is not right that people take what is not theirs but WE all know what happens.Hope you all get something back for your LOSS .Why should the Auctioneer pay for stolden items. Just my 3 cents.

I agree with the auctioneer being generous about granting refunds. I've never been to an auction that did not have on everything "Not responsible for theft" on a sign, on the bidder's number, at the cashier's stand.
Sounds to me like the auctioneer has had trouble with thieves and doesn't want anyone to start spreading around their stuff got stolen before they could load it up.
Either way, remember the Boy Scout Motto, "Be Prepared"!

I was told this was the first ag equip auction for them. Bets its the last they choose to take on LOL!

This was the first I heard of trouble at the auction. I went back and read the other post also. I agree also that usually an auctioneer will warn folks to watch their stuff. I always head foir the truck/car with the small stuff. And at the muncy auction I didnt wait for someone to load me.. I took stuff apart and carried to the truck myself. (kinda hard with really big stuff i guess).
A ligitimate scrap guy would have a bill of sale and LIST FROM THE AUCTION of what he bought from the amish guy. There is no way Id try to haul anything away from an auction site without a receipt listing my purchases wether or not anyone asks for it.
I seemed to have suprised the auctioneer when I asked him if he would accept an out of state check, he told me nobody had ever asked him that before?? Said it would be ok. Turned out I paid cash for what I bought so it didnt matter. I hate to see the auctioneer or anyone else for that matter loose out because of this. If they catchem I can give you a short peice of rope.

Sad to hear abut your horse! I like horses.
But, I am a fan of letting criminals get a bit ahead, and then shooting them! There is nothing better than letting someone think they got away with it, then catching them and slamming their faces in the dirt. Police brutality? No, it's just good clean fun!
Regardless of who picked up their stuff... If someone steals, it is a fun time to find them and break their arms putting them in cuffs. I love fun!
