   I have an Allis D-17 circa 1964 or so.  I had a flat tire and the tractor sat for a good three months before I got around to getting the tire fixed.   Since then the weather has been cold (Minnesota).  When I went to start it (was in neutral), the engine barely turned over and then didn't at all.  When I pushed in the clutch, it fired right up.  When I went to release the clutch, it acted as if it was in gear and bogged out and the engine shut down.  I started it again, with clutch pushed in, but this time when I went to release the clutch I had it it first gear to see if the tractor would move.  Samething happend...engine bogged out and the tractor did not move an inch.  I thought I smelled clutch....also I believe I saw smoke coming from the right side of the engine where you can see the "timing" mark through a hole in the block.  I have also tried to see if towing it in neutral and in gear would free anything up, no luck.  The rear wheels remained locked up.  Any suggestions on what could be happening here.

	Could be water in it and now it's froze solid. Tom

	My first thought is that some water got into the drive train somewhere, and now it's ice. Let's hope so, anyway.

	Very likely you have a mouse nest in the bell houseing.there is a small plate in the underside that pops off , take a look. Gary

	Just had something similar happen to my C. I moved it into the barn a couple of days ago after freeing up the clutch (rust). Tried to roll it yesterday - temp was down in the 20's - and it was locked up tight. As the day warmed up, I could rock it and then it freed up. Found quite a lot of mud (and?) in the brake housing, some water. I figure that the critters were living in there and left a pile behind which froze up when the temp dropped. Hope your problem is as curable.

	Had the same problem on an 8N Ford last winter. The trans had enough water in the oil that it froze and the wheels wouldn't turn. I let it set with drain pans under it with the plugs out. I then pointed a salamander heater at it and after about 1/2 hr the ice melted and drained out.

	I believe your transmission has water/ice in it
