My WD runs for a bit and then dies.  It has Petronix ignition, new plugs, and plenty of gas in the tank.  After I've been blading snow about 15 minutes, after the engine is good and warmed up, it wants to die when I let off the clutch (usually in 2nd gear).  I quickly push in the clutch and it keeps running.  I've checked to make sure it isn't choked any.  It's been getting progressively worse.  I'm guessing it's a carb problem.  I rebuilt the engine ~1 1/2 years ago, but I didn't touch the carb.  Any suggestions?  Rebuild the carb?  We're expecting more snow tonight and I'm getting frustrated.

As always any help is appreciated.

Is the air breather restricted? This is something that is often overlooked when "restoring" a tractor.

I just ran it with the air cleaner disconnected.  It ran the same way.  I bladed snow for about 10 minutes and then it wanted to die when I let off the clutch.  After awhile it started to chug and then wanted to die while I backed it into the barn.  Arghhh.

I guess I'll drain the gas and try to clean things out.

Anybody have any other ideas?

Are you sure the entire fuel system is clean?  I had a similar problem with my WD a few weeks back.  It turned out that the inlet to the sediment bowl was clogged from material I used (neoprene) to make a gasket for the fuel cap.  It would run some and then try to die..........If I pulled the choke out most of the way, it would continue to run.
Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

Definitely an obstruction in the fuel system.  Clean/replace filter, clean out bowl.  Check the passage through the sediment bowl and line.  I found a dead ladybug in mine a few weeks ago that made running difficult.

CHECK THE JET INSIDE THE BOWL AT BOTTOM. I HAVE HAD MINE GET CLOGGED UP FROM MINUTE PIECES OF RUST AND IT WOULD ONLY RUN FOR TEN MIN.AT A TIME....ALSO IF YOU HAVE A INLINE FILTER CHECK TO SEE IF IT IS CLOGGING.OR IF ITS TILTED AND MAYBE SUCKING AIR POCKETS INSTEAD OF FUEL.

Is it frosting up? I've had that problem in the past when cold and windy while blowing snow up here.

Remove the drain on the carb bowl and see if you have good flow to the carb.  Let it run to flush out any water in the bowl and to check flow from the tank.  Check the gas cap to be sure it is venting.

Also, if your sediment bowl has a cork gasket it might be deteriorating and since it is on top of the screen little pieces of it get sucked into the carb. I cleaned my carb 3 times in a month before I figured it out and replaced the gasket. No problems since.
