WF questions

square plate covers the push rods, there is a gasket I replaced mine last year as it leaked a little bit down the side of the engine. gasket is still available from tisco and some vendors on this site, around 12 bucks. put a thin layer of high-tack gasket sealer on it to keep it from leaking. I would replace the oil filter base gasket too while you have it off

BLee - The WF is a good model to work with, considering it is based off the WC which was such a high production number tractor for Allis. 1st thing about taking the head off, you will want the following gaskets on hand. Head gasket, water manifold gasket, radiator hoses, water pump gasket, manifold gasket, a BIG hammer (not your hand) and patience. They can some times be vey stubborn and may require slight "prying" to get it seperated from the block. When it comes to procureing these items, AGCO still has all of them available. If you aren't lucky with having a dealer near by you can contact Norm Meinert in Davis, IL he can you all that and then some. When it comes to putting it all back together becareful as to not tighten the valve cover too tight. It is very easy to tighten it and create a "valley" around the bolts. This will cause the bottom to work its way out through time and creating a leak in the future. Usually about the time you spend 2 years working on the tractor then get it all painted up. LOL Also when removing the oil filter base also remember the "not too tight" theory when tightening it down. Those oil filter bases are made from what I call "pot metal" and if you tighten them too much they also have a tenendecy to crack not allowing a good seal. Hopefully this is the info you are looking for, or maybe more then you wanted. Hope this comes in handy. Don't trust me though I am only 29 and have only been working on allis's since I was 13, when I received my 1939 WC for my 13th birthday. And it has been an awesome ride since then. Even when it took out the garage door! LONG STORY!!!! lol

99% chance it will have a hair-line crack between the cylinders but that is ok i ues COPPER COAT to seal head gaskets and neaver have any trouble i had to grind the valves on my WF it had been sitting for 20 yrs. but runs great now it is a fun tractor to drive mine is a 1945 model. have fun. Tom
