7045 black belly i bought as a parts tractor the intake manifold is off. is the tractor suppose to have just an air intake cover on it or can i put a intercooler on this motor? is a 670t the same as a 3500mark engine which is a 426? i also looked at 2 7040's tonight my neighbors just had the air intake cover on it which i think is factory? and my 7040 had a intercooler on it so would that basically bump my 426 up to a 7050 specs? thanks Nickia

7045 came from the factory without an intercooler.

I'm no expert on it, so probably not the one to ask. Intercoolers alone will not add the horse power, they just allow you to turn up the fuel pump more at a given boost level and exhaust gas temperatures because they cool the charge air, so it is more dense going in. From what I have read on here about adding intercoolers, your radiator capacity is not big enough to run it in the field at the increased hp, but a 7060 radiator ought to fit in a 7045. As far as plumbing... I would not know, but I'd guess there's some differences to hook in that extra circuit. Someone who's actually done this will probably chime in soon and give the details. Biggest thing I can say is if you need a 160 horse tractor, then you'd probably be better off with a 7060 or 50 so you don't run into cooling problems.

The intake and intercooler interchange on the side of the head, but you have to also change the water pump housing to make the intercooler fit.

I've just added an intercooler to a 3500 MK II engine. You will need the waterpump housing with the opening to send coolant to the intercooler. I can post pictures later tomorrow. I'm putting the engine into a 220 and that will be used for some play field work. I am concerned about cooling capacity. Will look at adding a row of cores to the rad when I have it in to change the inlets.

We had parts form a N6 670I in the corner. When the 7045 motor was bebuilt do to low oil pressure, I had the intercooler added. Using parts from the combine, you then get to jerryrig up the upper alt bracket. It would be good to have a bigger radirator from the 7060 or 7080. I will give you more power. I am told if you have an air to air intercooler, you even get more. It can be done.
