I am sure most of you remember...today marks 24 years since the last Allis-Chalmers tractor rolled off the assembly line at the Allis-Chalmers plant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. |

Yup Austin, a sad day in tractor history. I wonder what day in 2010 or 2011 will be the last orange tractor off the line in France or wherever.

I think I saw a picture of last one rolling off the line.
That would be a sad sad day.
Good Luck!

Maybe the Mayan Doomsday prediction (That the world will end Dec 21st 2012) is actually a prediction of when the last Agco orange tractor will roll off the line. After all, the Mayan's were the originators of corn, and the first Central American farmers. So... It seems only fitting that they would predict the end.

I remember the day I heard the announcement. I was in the field chisel plowing in the 8070, and the dealer stopped by on his way home to tell us. That was a very dark day in farm history.

I wonder why Allis-Chalmers didn't apply for Chapter 11 protection, to try to restructure it's debt. Any thoughts?
