We are looking to order a new grain bin for extra storage and are going to get either a 24' by 18' or a 24' by 22' at the eaves and add about 6' to the top for maximum fill height I think. So my question is our auger is a 8" by 52' and it reaches our current bin easily which is a 18' by 18' at the eaves and I think it will reach the 24' by 18' fine but not sure if it will reach the taller one. So I'm wondering if anyone has similar size bins and auger and if you know if it will reach the taller bin or are we going to have to upgrade the auger too.

i don't remember the dementions of my 10000 bu bin, but had to have a 62 ft auger to reach it.

Try the old Pythagoras, x squared plus y squared equals r squared.  The r is the length of your auger (52 feet).  The x would be the measured distance from the bottom end of the auger to a horizontal point directly beneath the output spout (when raised) and y will be the distance from the ground vertically to the output spout.  Try it.  You get to use that little calculator that does square roots.
