Tractors Sounds I Like

Don(M0)'s comment about the "bark" of his WD45 under load while plowing brought back memories.  I love the sound of a WD45 with a Nelson muffler plowing and working away.  The sound is snappy and seems to say "let's go to work".  Another that I like is the M Farmall when they are working.  A different sound but still distinctive.   

Dad's 7060 has an 8050 in it and a custom exhaust.  That thing sounds sweet going through the PS.  My WC with the straight pipe sounds fantastic when the gov hits.  And then there is McKims pulling tractor, Power Maxx.  180 with a 301 and twin turbo's making about 80 lbs of boost.  Dang it, now I've got the urge to see a pull.

i remember the sounds of two tractors working in the same field performing the same task like plowing or working ground but doing it at slightly different rpm. the rpm variance would drive me nuts. likewise ,at night running full throttle gassers and seeing the muffler glow red or that one inch of fire shooting out the top of the muffler on a 17 diesel under full load. loved seeing the little bullet red tail lights telling everyone where you were.

Yes, you have got to like the 6 cylinder Buda sound.  I have two D17 diesels with offmarket mufflers.  They simply don't sound like the Nelsons.  I also would like to know where you can get the Nelsons.

That's the million dollar question. I've been trying to find one for years. If you find one, please post it on this forum.

At the end of feb, agco is having there spring sale im going to  price a nelson for my iv,and see how much it will cost ,might be worth it if lasts twenty years.A while ago someone said the mufflers from walker sound like the nelsons.All i know is that the one i got aftermarket sounds weak,not like my dads original 17ivgas.I;ll keep looking and if i find something i"ll post about it.

The deep rich throatty bass of a UC. I still remember her as she come to life for the first time in 12 years in our shed. I can hear an Allis Chalmers 426 coming down the road. I can tell it from other brands. Great question. I love to see the pictures of different AC's, but this is a great question. 

Love the sound of a turned up 301 in a 180 tractor ; the uneven idle, the little puffs of smoke - dang I,m gonna go fire it up now !!

I like the BUDA 6 sounds, I like the "peppy" sound of my IH Cub Lo-Boy, and now don't shoot me for this one, but I like the sounds of a JD 2 Cyl Diesel

i was able to buy a Nelson muffler for my B and D14  from a Cummins distributor.  The old Nelson catalog number was stll good.  Price was less than half of Agco quote.

XT in PA, I second that! about ten years old running a 13 foot chisel on dads 7045ps going through the gears at night.   he also had a 4 12 in straight pipe on it, and in a couple of fields in the bottoms you could hear that one and many other tractors blarring out for miles.     sad day when it left for kentucky:(
