Is the 400 for a d17 and the 500 is for the 170, or what is the different in a 400 and 500 loader? What is the going price on either one when you can find them?

Wood the 400 usually came with a front pump for the D series The dipper is heavier on the 500s as they were usually on bigger tractors. You should look them over real well as they are prone to cracks, just like any other loder that has been abused. Cal in Ct.

Does a 460 fit on a D17? Also does it have the pump for the front of the tractor?

The 460 loader was built for the 6060, 6070 and 6080. The 450 loader was built for the 6140, and the 470 loader was built for the 7000-7040 tractors, therefore it could be mounted on any 7000 series tractor. This all came from Norm Swinfords book, but that is not to say that any of these could not be made to fit another, it's just how much work you want to put into it. I know they don't list the 400 series loader fitting the D14, but that's what my Father and Grandfather did back in the late seventies when they bought the 400 series loader we still have today. After the D14 the 400 loader was then transfered to one D17 and then to another and just a week ago to yet another D17.

I have a 400 series on my 170 and it works great. The width is same as D17 but it had to be lengthened to match the longer wheelbase of the 170.

Wasn't the loader made for a 160 also a 460? Looked like a 400 except the brackets were different. Lots different from the 460 for 6060/6080.
