The pto housing on my WD has developed a leak. When the fluid is warmed up there is a steady drip. How bad of a job is it to fix? Is it just a seal? The other dilema is that I have a mounted corn picker on the WD, so it will be a challange to get at the pto housing.

I replaced the one on my WD a couple years ago. Could not find the AC extra large seal, so just install two automotive lip type seals in tandem. The PTO is used a lot (bush hogging) and it has not leaked since installing the seals. The hardest part was getting the PTO shaft separated from the PTO housing. Just remove the bolt and wedge a large chisel or wedge between them.

Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

Brandon, most likely just the seal. It is a donut shaped seal that is no problem to get from AGCO just be careful you tap it easy and even when you put the new one in. Dennis. One more thing the new ones have a rubber seal and the old (original had felt) so don't worrie when you see the rubber instead of the felt.

Branden, after reading your post again I'm wondering if it's leaking from the housing where it connects to the tractor or is it leaking around the Pto shaft where it goes into the housing????

it appears that the leak is coming from the pto shaft.

Ok that's what I thought Branden. The above is accurate then. Take the two bolts that hold the rear of the shaft in place out (DON'T let it drop have somebody hold it or rest it on something so it remains straight) next, take bolt out that connects shaft to stub shaft that protrudes from the housing, then take out the (if I remember right) three bolts from cover (they are in a triangle configuration) then tap old seal out. Don't forget to drain oil first LOL! then being careful, tap new seal in with a block of wood so it goes in even. the part number is #70224779-2
