Hitchin a ride on a test run. Gary at the wheel. First time out of the shop after lots of work.
Gary lets me take her for a spin. Everything on this B but the tires, oil filter, spark plugs and plug wires and primer are older than I am.
This B has features only found on early 1938s. Can you tell I'm lovin this?

Ken, you cheat, it even has a seat on it. Usually when mine come out of the shop like that, they have a board for a seat.
Good looking tractor. You have a good start on it. Bob

Pretty good looking B. I have a 38 B but right now it has a rust finish on it. Hope mine will look as good as yours. I have different rear rims on it. Kind of hard to explan but the wedges are held in a saddle type bracket which is riveted on the rim. I saw one other B like this at a show in Baraboo WI. a few years ago. Would like to know if any one else has this design?

Ken, very nice job. The rear rims, remind me of a `38 B I sold on auction in `08 ser# 4852, it had the split rims with the tall clamps. Can`t tell from the pictures, but does this one have the steering wheel with the covered spokes? I currently own ser# 7366, a `38, and ser# 12492, a 39. both use the 3/4 inch rear wheel bolt clamps, but not the split rims, and both have the covered spoke steering wheels. Keep up the good work. Can`t wait to see the finished product

Rog. I have one good set of the narrow one piece rims with the footed clamps on my 39. Not many good ones like that around anymore. I had a 38 parts B that had them. I have a couple sets of the clamps but no more good rims. They were design #2 in the evolution of B rear rims used in 38 and 39.
It has the covered spoke steering wheel.
I missed listing the new repo seat CB. The real one will have a canvas covered cushion when my wife has time to cut out the pieces and sew it up.
We are trying our best to restore it correctly as a new 38.

Ken should be happy and a smile on his face. He has contributed a lot of originality and knowledge and a little back breaking also on building my '38 Allis. He is a true friend. I have spent over 41 years of my life at a local Ford Dealership here in Longview, Texas as a parts man. I am now semi-retired but still work at the dealership doing P.R. work. I got interested in tractors a few years back - bought a few and sold a few - then got real interested in Allis Chalmers. Bought a 1942 Model C but sold it later. Then I bought a 1946 Allis from Dave Maddux. I will keep this one as Dave's restoration turned out really nice. I am hopeful my '38 will be just as nice when finished.
My Dad bought his first Allis Chalmers before he went off to World War 2 for his Dad to make it a little easier for him while he was away. At the time they had teams of horses and the little Allis was a big luxury to my Pa. I have never farmed but always looked forward to visits to my grandparents in North Dakota. That was the only life they new and I loved riding that Allis and helping with the farming on those visits.
I have had several Hit and Miss engines, then got interested in Maytag washing machines and began collecting Maytag gasoline engines several years ago. But now my interest has changed to Allis B's. I have learned a lot from trial and error and after all the months and months and hours and hours working on it, I can now see results from my work. It has been challenging to restore a tractor from the ground up and the search for so many parts that are not made anymore has been even more challenging but again the results are starting to show. I am really loving every minute of it.
I don't say much on this forum but I do read it every day and have learned so much from all the Allis owners and collectors. Thanks Ken and all the forum guys for all the good advice - Gary
