Everyone can do what they want to their own tractor but if that was mine, that adjustable wishbone would be the last thing I'd be getting rid of.

If you were closer I'd trade you a good rim for it.

I do not see a mention of that axle in Norm's book, does anyone know how many were produced?

Very few from what I've been told. I have 41 B with the Adjustable axle wishbone style. Haven't another one around this area.

Jim, your front axle looks to be the narrow version. Zyta you should compare the picture with your standard width axle. I know there is a narrow version.

The narrow adjusts from 38 to 48 and the wide from 50 to 60 so there is quite a difference between them.

The WIDE version of the Arched Adjustable is the RARE one. I have actually seen a dozen or more narrow 38" to 48" ones and pictures of dozens more. I have a narrow  one like pictured on a 39 B. A forum member posted a picture of a WIDE 50" to 60" one years ago. Only have seen that picture of the one. The difference is all in the beam itself. The straight top center section of the beam where it pivots is obviously longer. They became obsolete with the introduction of the straight tall spindle  38" to 60" adjustable in 1940. If I interpret the parts book correctly a wider version 40" to 60" became standard for 42 and up Bs.

My arched adjustable is really rusted stuck at its narrow setting. Haven't tried to get it loose thinking I will destroy it in the process. Word is, they actually worked  themselves loose real easy and many were welded up by farmers over the years.

Bs with Adjustable tread widths seem to have been popular down South where watermelons are grown.

I also have a narrow arched adjustable front, and like Ken, have only seen a picture of a wide.  I can't remember the name of the person I talked to that had both, but he was pretty sure he had the only one.  I have heard that there were only 200 of these made, and it looks like a lot of them have survived, as I have seen quite a few posted on here, but then I have even seen 2 at the same show once.

Ken, they will take a lot, one side of mine was rusted tight and I had it cherry red and beat it out with a 8lb sledge.  I mushroomed the end and had to grind it down before the last part would go through.

I have one also.  I think Ken saw it last summer when he was up this way.  It looks to me like the shafts were lengthened for a wider track.  Anyone know how long they are supposed to be?  The tractor had been sitting in a back yard of a suburb of Denver for 30 or 40 years.  It may be next winters' project.  Finally got the C running that's been in my shop for a year.  Met my goal of having it running before the end of the year.

I've never seen one in person but I would have to guess that there are some sort of notches that determine the width and there should be 3 of them that are 2 1/2" apart on each side. If there is more adjustment than that I would say it's been added on to.

Looking at the picture, I must have a wide one, if my memory serves me correctly. It seems to be wider then the one on the picture. I'll have to take some measurements. Bob

Only $96 so far with a little less then 3 days left.  I hope he gets a lot more then that for a at least somewhat rare axle.

I wonder what his reserve is?  It may be way up there.

The wide one is 12 inches wider than the narrow one. I don't think you need to measure to see a foot of difference. The adjustable pins for both the wide and the narrow axle have the same part numbers RH and LH

I'm sure shipping has a lot to do with what it will bring. Pretty limited amount of buyers if shipping is an issue.

They use the same lock bolt as the starters with the tapered tip.  There are 2 on each side and they can be set to 3 different width's on each side.  I can't remember if there are 4 holes or 6 for the bolts to go in.  Like Ken said the difference between the narrow and wide is all in the middle of the axle, and the outer sections are the same for both
