the hand clutch seal is leaking on my 49 wd.  i have the engine out right now.  whats the best way to get to it.  any info is appreciated

Which one? If your talking about the input shaft seal between the hand clutch and hydraulics you need to do as Norm advised, pull the next casting foreward, the hydraulic tank. Symtom of this one is your hydraulic oil seeks the level of the trans/rearend oil. Some have been "fixed" by running hy/tran oil in everything and lettting it go where it wants to.  I dont remember there being any hidden tricks to doing it but there is an old update to a dual seal which is all you can get now and there is a wear sleeve that you must have to use it.

the seal that is leaking is on the side behind the brake pedals.  it is where the lever for the hand clutch goes into housing???
