First of all I said "thinkers" -- not "stinkers"
Now, put down that dessert, and tell me an easy way to clean the inside of the fuel tank on my WD. I really don't want to remove it from the tractor if I can avoid it. Thanks.............O_O
Update: I'm not sure what's in the tank.......just a sludge in the bottom that clogs the inlet to the sediment bowl/fuel valve. Probably a combo of rust and dirt. I can remove sediment bowl and blow backwards through the fuel valve with low pressure air and the tractor runs fine for a few days.....but eventually it acts up (wants to die) at the fartherest point from the shop.

I think you'ld get my responses from stinkers. Get one of those kid shrinking machines and put scotch bright on their feet before you shrink them.

need to be specific...
but, if it's rust-
Go buy a lb of red devil lye, or liquid plummer dry powder (READ the can and make sure it is almost 100% PURE LYE)
Fill the tank with water. Add 3-4 tablespoons of lye for every gallon of water.
DO NOT EVER EVER NEVER NEVER DUMP THE POWDER INTO THE TANK BEFORE THE WATER! IT WILL GO BOOM IN YOUR FACE WITH CAUSTIC FUMES AND POWDER!!!!!
get a piece of scrap iron from your pile of junk, preferably a rod.
hook your battery charger POSITIVE to the scrap steel, and NEGATIVE to the tank. Do not let the scrap steel touch the tank. shim it in the gas cap opening so it doesn't touch. Polarity is crucial! If you hook it up backwards, your scrap steel will come out shiney and rust free, and your tank will have big holes in it!
Otherwise, take the tank off, fill it half way full of tiny round rocks, and spin it around with something like a cement mixer, or your PTO shaft.

This is guaranteed to work !!! Remove the sediment bowl assy, drain/ catch the fuel, check inside, if needed dump some fuel in to flush, clean sediment assy, either find some brass screening like used in sediment bowl and roll to look like a cigarette bend top closed and insert in top of sediment assy, teflon tape fitting and reinstall, pour fuel through strainer. The object is to feep the dirt/ chunks etc from plugging up in the sediment assy inlet.

Allen: I thought about doing what you suggest.....think it will work. Will just raise the input point of the fuel outlet. I may do that after trying to clean the tank by draining it, drying it good, and applying high pressure air. If all else fails, I'll remove the tank and do the traditional "shake, rattle, roll" with something abrasive inside the tank.

I use Allen Dilg's method and have installed the rolled screen in the sediment bowl inlets in all my tractors and never have any fuel supply problems anymore.

take the tank off and the bowl off and plug hole with a pipe plug pour miratic acid and swish around then leave sit for 5 min or so . flush out with water then add water and baking soda swish around and then rinise with clean water . might have to repeat a couple of times .

I used a short piece of copper tubing to raise the point of fuel entry. It's quick, cheap, and easy!
