what was the difference btw a corn pac and a corn soybean l3? doesnt look like the pac has a ahhc?

"Corn Pac" was a 1983 ?? Sales marketing thing.....certain things were standard equipment instead of optional.

You sure you dont mean Corn Plus??? They came with the most popular options as standard equipment, such as big tires, air conditoning, long finger chaffer, roller chain elevator chains and a whole bunch more. Corn/soybean special didnt have nearly as many standard options, long chaffer, heavy duty feeder beater and I think the 550/600 cylinder pulley.

My dad has an F3 Corn Pac (yes, that's right) with the 3 position header height control. A 1984 model.

The Fs an most others, the L series were Pacs insted of a Plus, it was an attempt for a "new" style even though not much changed

I've only ever seen Corn PAC models in the Series 3 versions. My L2 is a Corn Plus and I've seen a whole lot of Corn Plus L2/M2 combines in my area in my life. Wasn't there a Windrow Plus also?

I have an '84 F3 with Corn PAC branding on the cab roof. It also has 3 position AHHC.
From what I can tell, Corn PAC was only used on the 3 series and possibly only in the 1984 model year. All the '83 3 series machines I've ever seen have no labeling on the cab roof and usually have "corn/soybean" labels on the grain bin instead. 1985 was a transition year, so not sure if any Corn PAC labels made it onto the '85s. 1986/7 brought the green stripes and a whole new labeling scheme with graphics of various crops on the grain bin.

The corn PAC was in the price book under one catalogue # the dealer ordered one number and get the popular options rather than order 30 different options put on the base machine. Similar to Corn/Soybean Specials. The plant wanted to get orders for say a M3 that were all just alike - that made procurement for that production run easier and usually a discount was offered as a result. Best I can remember the tire options really was the stumbling block as they were limited to just a few sizes and held back dealers ordering them in lieu of the C/S version.. The Corn Pac did have the HD feeder beater, I think belt drive thresher beater - not sure - walker screens , corn screen, corn kit for the chopper - rasp bar of course. Again the design of the different Gleaner versions and all the options drove the procurement guys crazy. At one time it was over 25 line items of options selected just to order a L2/3 combine on a T-49..

What the Plus was to the 2 series, the Pac was to the 3 series. Each was available for the full run of each series (might be wrong in the 85-86 era, Allis did alot of weird things when they were going down), we have a 78 Corn Plus, and a 83 Corn pac, so they were available from the beginning.
Like tbran said, it was a package of options.
