On a 3 bolt front and a 4 bolt front, is the only difference, the front plate? And of course the pedistal? Dave.

Dave, that is my understanding. The 3 bolts were subject to cracking around the mounting holes when using a loader, and that is why they came out with the 4 bolt version. At least that is what I've been told. Take care! John

the 4 bolt bolster is not as deep into the frame rails. It was introduced the same time as the wd45 diesel to allow room for the motor.

For Morton and Dave I will put it on here, I just know someone will say I'm wrong, But here go's. There are four wide front ends made for the WD,WD-45 and WD-45-D.
With that said, Here's the short low down on them, The bolster on the first WD's up to Ser# 35xxx is one then up to Ser# 136xxx is two, Then at Ser# 186xxx is three (this is WD-45 only) Then the WD-45-D went in to production wide front end on them was made a little diff, for the engine to fit. Now with all that said This is just on the wide fronts. And thats more than I like to type. lol
