I just finished reading (and responding) all of the reponses to Jim (IA)'s corn picking pictures and all of the memories that post generated and got to thinking about some of the old harvest pictures that I have. So how about everyone post some old harvest pictures of corn picking and combining etc. I'll start with some old family harvest pictures I have:
The WC and WoodBros picker, probably the 2nd corn picker on the farm
The WC and mounted picker, probably the 3rd picker on the farm:
A WD or WD45 and mounted picker(picture is a little blury):
Unfortuneatly I do not know of a picture of the D17 and JD 237 picker which would have been the 4th and final corn picker on our farm but here is an old picture that I discovered a while back of what was probably the first picker on the farm, a horse drawn unit with what I am going to guess is my Grandfather and Great Uncle doing the picking:
Now it is your turn:-)

Will, You know, we did not take pictures when Pop sent me out to work on pickers. However, I have to say I remember all but the Woods Bros. Loved the picture of the Flat Top WC with a mounted picker.
Thanks for sharing.
Good Luck!

I don't have any pictures from 2007 when I had the WD45 and the #35 picker there.

Hopefully I can get this picture on and it's large enough to see the machine. It's a combine my grandpa and neighbor built and used several years before AC came out with the pull type combine. They used it to combine sweet clover seed since it was a night mare to thresh and there was a demand for the seed.
I was afraid that was going to be the thumbnail size but for the moment, that's all I have. Den |

Here's a picture I saved from this site that reminded me of the old days and how we stored corn.
I don't remember who posted it but it is a great picture. |

Thanks for the Picker pictures. We had a gray Woods, pulled with the F20 Farmall. Was still using the horses to haul corn, so it had the hitch for the long wagon tongue.
Neighbor was running the Picker. While Dad was changing wagons neighbor decided he would jerk a stock from the husking bed with the picker running. In a split second his hand was in the rolls. Thank god Dad was there to shut it down. Had to take some rolls loose to get his hand out. Lost his index finger and damaged another, could have been much much worse. |
