I have what look to be the original plug wires on my C. They are steel wire braid with a cloth jacket. On the jacket there looks to be a thin coating of black rubber or asphalt coated substance. The 90 deg. spark plug terminal is also coated. Does anyone have any info on the original wires?

Sure if you scrape the wire you will find it's overplated copper wire with a rubber coating that is inside a cloth jacket. Cloth is then coated with a thin rubber coating to protect the cloth .

If looking at replacing them, be sure you get SOLID wire cables; not the carbon wire ones used on autos.
