i planted 15 acres of corn yesterday afternoon, got done no problems. i then started to take the tractor home and when i was going down the road all of the sudden i just lost steering, brakes, and power like the transmission went? never had any problems before, oil level was good, and tractor wasn't making any funny noises so any ideas? thanks mike

It could be a couple things, if litterally everthing is dead, it is probably the torque limiter (powershift), or the input splines on the two speed (power dirrector), could also be a broken 1st stage pump shaft (only on a p/s), but not likely, the 7000 series have a history of shearing clutch disk/torque limiter teeth right behind the engine. Sorry for the bad news, but based on other posts of a similar nature, about everyone will lean on this as the problem.
I am by no means the expert around here, I have been corrected before, but your symptoms seem to meet all the criteria.

I put one in my 7050 because the center broke out of it. Cost me around 200, and you have to split the tractor behind the engine. Took me 2 days to do mine probably could be done faster though.

I would call it a big job, it's not all that complicated, just a lot of little things to take apart, and remember where to go, in order to split the tractor. I would bet that getting to the point of splitting the tractor will be a day, actually having the tractor apart, about two hours, and another day to put it all back together. We did ours at the same time as major rearend work on our 7060, so I can't be real accurate on the timeframes. If you plan to do it yourself, invest the money, and buy the orriginal three ring binder A/C service manuals for the 7000 series, they are on Ebay quite often.

I would rather split a 7050 for torque limiter job than split a MF 135 for a clutch job.
Look in the hole on the bottom of the bell housing and see if there are any parts laying across the hole. I had a 7060 torque limiter disc come apart one time while I was checking a customer's tractor. Everything is dead, no hyd, no transmission, the engine will run and that is all. I got out of the tractor and the customer asked me, What Happened! and I said Your friendly AC Service Rep just broke your tractor.

Besides replacing the torque limiter, you may want to buy and install the "pie-pan" cover that was added to the black belly tractors to keep a rear main oil leak from shutting you down in the middle of planting or harvest. It was a band-aid for the Harvey Engine Plant's inability to keep the rear main from leaking.

thanks, for the info guys. i did some calling around today, and i found a TL for a decent price. What kind of cost are you looking at on splitting the tractor, i'll take it to a shop that has always seemed reasonable. but they didn't what i'd be looking at on splitting it they haven't done one before. they have been into about everything else. thanks

Where do you get the (pie pan), agco don't have them.
Make sure you have the flywheel resurfaced and a new pressure plate, rear main seal and flywheel wear ring. MACK

My 7050 and 7060 both had the pie pan on them when I split them, but dont know where to get them. Make sure you get the right TL I think the power director one has bigger splines than the power shift.
