On the black belly 7000 series cabs, are the two loops that are on the largest post of the cab the lift points for taking the cab off with an overhead lift?  If so, it is more or less balanced at this point?  Thinking about replacing the cab mounts and, if money and time permit this summer, going through the powershift and PTO so I will have then gone through everything but the transmission gears themselves since I have bought the tractor.

Thanks for the info, just what I needed to know.  I just wanted to make sure that's what they were there for.

No need to remove the cab. If it is a 7000  lift back of cab and role rear end out. If it 7040 and up roll motor and PS out the front.   MACK

Mack's got good advise, we pulled the p/s tranny and rear out from under the cab, leaving everything attached up front on our 7060, just lifted the back up, and basically rooled out the rear assembly.  Yes we used the loops you are reffering to, to support the cab, while doing the work.  Saved a lot of work in the steering box area.

I was also thinking about doing cab mounts while if I brought it in the shop for a fair amount of time to work on it.  Would it be easier to do it with the cab lifted or just do the cab mounts at 2 different times, one with the rear propped up, one set with the front propped up?  And then it would also bring in the possibility of giving the belly a paint job... oh goodness I can see where this idea might be going, maybe I should leave it alone so I don't have the tractor torn down into a hundred boxes of parts this summer.... :)
