Thieves hit us again! Only this time its going to be a very hard to replace item! Large rear wheel gear about 4' tall! We're restoring Grand Dads Rumley 20-40 in shop, and I moved the rear wheels and gears over to another building a few years ago to give us more room in the shop. Dad didn't think it was good idea then and he was right! As we went to get them out this week and found one of the gears gone. I figured they got it a couple months ago when they got a bunch of other stuff and we missed seeing it gone? So I'm in the dog house as Dad isn't a happy camper! If any of you know of any Rumley's for parts or have one, Please let  us know.

Sorry to hear that.  Thieves make me sick.  They need to start cutting off hands again like in biblical times.

I hope you can find some replacement parts, seems that some people will steal anything they can get their hands on.We always have to leave someone on guard at any auction we go to. Have people trying to steal your stuff while your hauling part of it to the truck.

Maybe all that mercury now in their veins will be payback.

I would suggest you put a post on Smokstak describing your loss.  The guys on there could keep an eye out for it if it shows up at a sale, in case it didn't get scrapped. Check with any local scrap yards, it might still be there.

That's kind of an odd item to steal though I think.

I agree! but its heavy and probaly worth more than the small amount of copper wire and other metal they took. I'm just glad they left the other one! Something must of scared them off as they left a few piles of other items behind the building. I would love to catch them in the act. They wouldn't be stealing any more!

You might have to give them a week or so to find it at a scrap yard. A couple idiots swiped a bunch of brass water faucets from the Iowa State Fair campgrounds earlier this year. About a week later they were caught trying to scrap them. A couple of not very sharp knives if you get my meaning...
