Sure hope so, cause I'm going to pick it up on Saturday. Can anyone tell me about this? I thought for the money, it would make a good yard ornament and didn't want it to go to China.

Sure is Chuck, I think they were just known as a rope trip field cultivator. I see you have the manual reset bar on the hitch yet, too...I may have a spare manual for it. Looks like a 7' ? Good score in any case. I'll look and let you know.

That's just what I need behind the 35 WC for our fall show. I can smooth out the plowed ground with it. Looks too nice to be a yard ornament Chuck.

I believe that is an A-C spring tooth power lift field cultivator, No. FC-1. It is shown in the 1935 agricultural catalog.

Well, it was advertised this morning on Craigslist, and seeing that after talking to the owner's son, it was less then 10 miles from me, so I had to go look at it tonite. I will go and pick it up on Saturday, along with a neat old running gear with spoke wheels. I think it is a 9'. I paid 100 bucks for it, figured it was worth more then that in scrap so I'm glad it didn't go to the scrappers. It will be a yard ornament for right now, but maybe I will have use for it someday. I have various snap coupler implements in my back yard that I consider yard ornaments also. Kind of my way of bringing them home!!

Dad had one like it that he borrowed to an Uncle of mine. He hooked a post with a wheel and bent the wheel mount a bit. It had been at my Uncle's for probably 30-40 years or more. I knew just where it sat. A few years ago I asked my cousin where that old field cultivator went that sat in the fence line and he said he hauled it to the scrapyard. Procrastination doesn't work. He never knew it was my Dad's and I didn't think it was worth it to now tell him it was.

Yes it is AC, I have 2 just like it, One has the narrow points like this one and the other one has less shanks but 12 inch shovels on it. I paid $300.00 for one and $35.00 for the other one. Mine averaged out to $167.50 each. You did good Chuck.

Chuck, a tip on hauling the FC. I had to haul mine over 200 miles. It is as you said over 9' wide. I took the back shanks off and put it cross ways on the trailer with the tongue straight up.

One day I would like one of those for my B collection. They showed them being pulled by the early B's....

AC made several different widths of this FC, 6, 7 1/2, 9, 10 1/2 and 12 foot. The 2 shown here and mine are the 7 1/2 foot ones which seemed to be the most popular.
Glenn, you need the 6 foot one for your B's. |
