Sometimes you can find a casting # on the rearend that would be a close date or you can go off the engine serial#.

The engine serial number should be sort of behind the carburetor. Welcome to a great forum!

The engine # will be hand stamped and start with WD##### unless it's a newer WD45 engine, then it will start with 45-#####. Here is a site that has the info.

the serial no on the hydraulic pump should match the tractor serial no.....if the pump is original. but, I suspect that if you spend a little time scraping paint you will be able to read the serial no on the tractor differential. Nothing but the differential no will be for sure, because during it's life motors, pumps, etc could of been changed

Some of the early WD's were stamped to the right side of the left brake cover also.

would that be on top of the brake housing or on the back because I have removed the paint under the hole where I found the serial # on my 1951 and the casting is a little pitted but I dont see any numbers there. I tought I should be able to make out something but I see nothing

I found the serial # right of the left break cover # 3348.
So you have a fairly early WD from 1948. |

I hope to start restoring both of my wd's sometime in the near future so I may be posting my questions. I haven't pick up my '37 WC yet but I should have it in a few months. I also have aquired (3) lil genius two bottom plows which should be a lot of fun when I get them functional.
