This is a video walk around of the B tractor I've been getting running. I sold the original over the wheel fenders that were on it and the cut off steel hubs that were on the front. I'm thinking about removing the square tubes that you rest your feet on and making some platform steps like on the D-Series tractors. I'm sure it has the wrong the steering box too. |

You have plenty to work with there. Not as ugly as several that I have seen come back to a very correct tractor. I would be interested how you tackle the removal of the square tube and fabrication of the replacement unit to hold the fender rails. Sounds neat.

I don't have any fenders for it now so they'd have to be fabricated or modified from a pair of eh hem, John deere 755 compact tractor fenders I have that I picked up at an auction about 10 years ago. When I get the auction fever I'll buy just about anything.

As long as you don't plan on putting a set of cultivators on, as they mount to that crosstube and if you did a step it would be in the way. I do like your idea though as it would make it easier to get up on. |

I restored and custimzed a 49 B with adjustable front axle three or four years ago. Looked bad as yours Went complete through it engine and all. Built fenders ,battery box ,part under gas tank, crank bumper and three point hitch. Moved seat, pedels and steering forward 12 in and lowered 6 in and put foot rest on.Had it on old forum forgot title . Some may still remender it.

Hey, Lloyd, how did you put 8 bolt rear wheels on that tractor?

It was easy. I drilled 4 holes in the steel wheel center. I lined them up the best I could with a tape measure to get the cast center hub centered then took a punch and marked the center of the four holes. I might cut out the rest of the wheel center so I can switch the tires from one side to the other so I can narrow the rear tread.

While I had the cast centers off the B I was wishing I had a pair of 8 bolt hubs that were splined to fit the rear axles. Would've been a good deal.

Nothing better than taking a good tractor and making it a great tractor!! Not only that, I'm sure I heard the wonderful sound of the correct police dropping dead. Good luck and don't spare the updates.
