Hi, I am a fairly new forum member, but have been a frequent reader for a long time. My family and I still use quite a few AC's in our farming operation and know this is a great source for info. We have recently acquired a 7020 that has a miss in it. The pan is over full with diesel, and the top of the exhaust pipe is very wet, too. It doesn't seem to have much blow-by, but not knowing the history we haven't run it much. Someone told us it probably has a hole in a piston, but we're not sure? We were thinking of pulling the injectors and get them checked, and from there possibly the head? I was wondering if any of you had any advice or things to look for. Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for any advice, Kevin.

Could possibly be the shaft seals for the injection pump letting the fuel get into the pan, but that would not account for the miss.

I bet you have a brocken spring in an injector, allowing the pop pressure to be very low, if at all. You need to get this fixed asap, as you are washing the cylinder liner with fuel, and causing big time wear on the walls.

That sounds right !!! Check them injectors , crack each imput line and see which one doesnt make a difference in the miss and you,ll have it

I finished reading your post, if you have a burnt through piston, it will have severe blow by, and I don't think you would get much out the stack. get that oil drained asap as well, since the bearings can tolerate some but not a full pan worth.

Mack, Just curious, how much more would water compress then fuel in a injection system?

The problem is when water in fuel hits the hot injector tip,it turns to steam and blows the tip off.

My 7060 has blown holes in a piston twice and when it does it you have alot of blowby and it smokes like a freight train.
