this is definitely not AC in any way shape or form but i need some input...
how much would you pay for a 4010 john deere tractor, 4590 Case IH inline small baler, & new holland 1037 bale wagon? its from a family member too, so chop off about 1-2 grand haha. i was thinking in the 17-20 grand area. they are all in fair-good condition. thanks!

Depends on condition, But your guess sounds like it would be pretty inline.

just my op but I wouldn'd go to my banker with those numbers ! the baler and wagon are losing value fast ! knowone is going thru the work to make small bales anymore , and the equipment is not selling . I still make them , but my wife says its the punishment I pay for having such a good wife !

I was going to start my post off by saying that people are still making small squares here but then i looked at your location brett and realized your only 45 min. away from me! lol but maybe that makes a difference because there seems to be a lot of horse people around here (i know you have amish but they make there own so prob not much of a market there lol) to the origional poster i would say your not far off with your price, the johney popper is going to be the bigest expence but they are very good tractors, i would do a price check on websites like ironsearch.com or tractorhouse.com and do a price comparison then talk to you relative

Being in Colorado, the baler is worth close to $5,000 and the bale wagon about the same. They are both holding their values here, still a lot of horse people want small bales. Not as many horses around as there used to be though. Round balers are catching on but there are a lot more small squares along the front range. Don't have a good idea on the tractor, haven't seen one sell lately.

Round bales took over here too, but the horse people found the older bales molded in the center and the horses had digestive issues now they are looking, scrounging for square bales; they are also easier to pack off any distance than a big single round bale.

There a neat machine built here locally called the Bale Baron that is pulled behind a small square baler and it bundles 21 small bales into one big square bale. It is built so two bundles high can be loaded into a van trailer. All the handling is the same a big square bales until you take the strings off and 21 small bale pop out. It really look odd in the field with a small baler towing a big square baler. www.balebaron.com |

Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed

A good running JD4010 diesel with a wide front end, 3pt, & two hydraulic remotes should command no less than $5000. If it has the front side wrap weights plus a few more in front of those, then add $250($50/piece). Same with the rear wheel weights, only add about $100 per wheel weight(2 on each side=$400). Good paintn then add about $500. If repainted add about $1500.
So, at best - $5000+250+400+(500)or(1500) = $6150 or $7150. Figure in the family discount and your back to around $5000?
