Looks like it could be factory or a very good homemade job. Captioned as a "TH-16", never heard of it. Maybe someone knows the owner, Alton Mettler from Menno, SD? Looks like a neat machine.

i have seen something very similaar but i just pass by it on the road... not sure what it is exactly... but its possible i suppose that they are the same?

The name is Mettler. They were AC dealers back in the day. Still in buisness with AGCO.

My guess is the picker shields hide a big hunk of concrete.

I would think they extended the frame to add weight for counterbalance.

My guess is they relocated the gas tank to the rear part, kinda looks like a fuel fill where the radiator neck would be behind the grille, and there's a radiator cap just behind the engine in the middle

In our area black smith shops turned many WD's backwards and added a loader. i still see one every now and then in a tree line or still in use. Every shop was different, some were very crude looking and others pro--like your picture.

I do service work on the road and MENNO, SD. is one of my stops. The lumber yard used to have one and they sold it to another business in town, it does not look that cherry any more. |
