L2 vs F2

this is a two part question.  Dad and i have an F2 4x4 with 13' head.  we were planning on upgrading last fall and couldn't find anything reasonable.  In december we found an 82 L2 with 426, 16' series 3 flex head and 6 row corn head with 1200 hours for a good price so we bought it.  It is in really nice shape but it does need quite a few sprockets and chains.  We're figuring on $3000 to get it running the way we want it.  We also have a lot of 16' gates so we will be taking the head on and off quite a bit.

1st question.  in average 20 acre patches will the L2 out perform the F2 enough to justify taking the head off and on.  dad has his doubts and wants to look for a sharp F3 and sell both.

2nd question.  We can take the gillcrest pusher off the F2 and make the L2 4x4.  We're wondering which will do better on soft ground L2 with 32 drivers or f2 with 28L drivers.

We ran a F2 for years then went to a L2 there is no comparisin the L2 will take the corn  and the beans faster and do a better job cleaning them and the 32 will carry it better with less compaction just what we have seen Niel

And we plan on widening the gates on our property but we don't want to do that much work on rented ground. 

No doubt the L2 will have double the capacity as the F2, but the f2's are great little combines, as we have 2 of them, and have very little trouble with them, and always put out a great sample, but what do you expect? its a gleaner.

Night and Day. An L2 would eat an F2 up and spit it out. I would  think you would get almost twice as much done. If you had a 20ft head on it. 16 is not near enough head for and L2. If you have to take it off and on for a 16ft head, get rid of that head and get a 20ft . An L2 will eat mud with 30.5s. I wouldnt say better then a F2 ,because you have more weight,but it will go where any other machine of its size will go.
