Hey everyone,
Sorry I haven't post much lately, been a little busy with work and the house but was able to get some stuff done with the tractor.
The last time I posted I mentioned we got the tractor out of the ditch and I was looking to work on the carb.
Since then we got the tractor to the house and is sitting in my driveway next to the stang. I was able to get the carb broken free after 2 days soaking in coke. I have video of this that I still have to edit and pics of the carb that I will post.
Last weekend I started to take apart the engine. This is the first time I ever took apart an engine so I took it slow and tried to figure out what everything was. I have video of this also that I have to edit and post. I took the carb into work on sunday and we media blasted it. It came out great, now I just have to buy the rebuild kit and paint it. Does anyone make the color that I need for the carb ready to go in a spray can? I do not have a spray gun or painting equipment.
Thanks guys.

Looking good! Another good carb cleaner is Pine Sol. It's more caustic the Coke if used at full strength and the parts start bubbling as soon as it's placed in it.

Stan, I think either you or someone else mentioned pine sol in my post about carb cleaning. I was already soaking it in coke when that reply came in. I will try it out for sure with some of the other parts. Thanks buddy. |

How long did you have it in the coke? Was it in pieces in the coke?

Ted J,
I had in the Coke for 2 days and it was pretty rusted and frozen so I didn't even bother trying to take it apart before soaking it. I didn't want to risk breaking anything.

Should I just primer everything including the brass pieces? Do they sell a high temp primer? |

I would not paint the brass, leave it, and you dont need high temp, the carb should never get that hot, just prime it and paint it black. Steve |

Have you tried to turn the engine yet with the hand crank? Once you have that carb cleaned up, it may run it it will turn.
