have not let a D-15 get away? Went to a consignment auction today. They had a D-15 Series II with a 2-bottom snap coupler slat plow and snap coupler draw bar that went for $1650. Tractor had a fairly decent repaint job, few minor leaks, front tires good. rear tires badly weather cracked. PD felt good, don't know about any transmission issues. The plow and draw bar rusted pretty bad.

It would have been hard not to bid on D-15 for that price if it was in good shape like that one seems to have been. It all depends though. If you went looking at that tractor then yep I would say it got away, but If you just went to see the tractors at auction then you had a good day. Sometimes you have second thoughts. I think we've all done that. I would have bought a couple of tractors after thinking about it. Its a good thing I didn't have time to think. LOL...

But you also have to figure a 1000 bucks for rear tires.   But even a good D15 with plow and tires for 2600 would have been a good price.   I would have had to drive it first just to check out the gear jumping issues.

don't feel too bad about not getting it, as the person who won the auction may have been prepared to go a lot higher, so you can't say you could have gotten it for that price.

Well Greg I don't feel too bad, the Orange fever hit me hard and I just had to bid on it. I had the top bid and it is now at the farm. I went there to find some 3 point equipment for my BIL's Farmtrac 35 but what I wanted was going too high. I did not need another tractor but I just had to give this one a good home. I had to get back on duty with the fire department so I only had time to get it unloaded and in the barn. Instrument panel needs a lot of TLC, the  tach (5135 hrs) and the ammeter work. Other instruments will need replacement and the lights are not connected. Everything major seems to work okay. I will try to post pictures later. Next week I will try to find time to check it out further.

I bought my d15 for 1500 and it don't look anywhere near that nice.   You stole that thing.   You could sell it on ebay tomorrow and double your money, but then what fun would that be.   Nice tractor.    And the tires don't look that bad from here.   Dry cracked tires look bad, but I have the same set on my 45 diesel that I had when I brought it home from my dad's.   They don't look good, but with a set of new tubes, and no chloride in them, they'll work just fine until I decide to restore her.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Being at an auction I didn't have time to check it out real good. I might have bought just a pretty paint job but it seems okay so far. I will know more in a few weeks.
