Bought a franklin logger (skidder) model 130. injector pump and and gears removed. Serial number 2D-28513 All my sources say 28 BTDC, 26 BTDC, 18 BTDC, 3 BTDC timing for injector pump. It will run while spraying starter fluid, but quits when you quit spraying I think it is the timing. Injectors do spray. Please help
Thank You

Pump timing doesn't just change on it's own.........what's the whole story?...did you have the pump removed from the engine???

No I purchased the skidder from a friend who is no longer around. The pump was off it as was the lines. His son said he removed the pump and the engine got turned over. He could not find any info on the timing to put it back together correctly. Seems as though the Allis Chalmers 180,185,190 tractor has the 2800 engine in them but the info for those for timing will not allow the Franklin Logger 130 to run without starting fluid. Hope this helps am pulling hair out to get correct timing.

If the pump drive shaft was never removed from the engine, you should be able to reinstall the pump on the shaft ( with the "dot" on the shaft tang in synch with the "dot" inside the pump....I'll bet you are 180 degrees off !!) and mount the pump noticing exactly where the nuts/washers left their mark on the pump flange slotted hole. You cannot be off more than a couple degrees if you do this. I think you have the pump drive shaft 180 degrees off.....the "dot" ain't lined up with the other "dot"..

Wouldn't you figure my pump shaft was not in it when I bought it. Tis why I am having the problems, don't know what the timing marks should be on the crank pully for this model. I have tried 28,26,18,3 all BTDC but it won't run without starting fluid.

I still think you're 180 degrees off !!! It should run fine at 24 to 28 degrees on a pump without an advance mechanism on the bottom. If it takes ether to make it run and it dies when ether is gone it must be 180 off.

Thank you so much DrAllis here is what I found.
My Franklin Skidder 130 with an allis chalmers diesel 2800 SN:2D-28513 and a Roosa Master DBGFC-637-3gh injector pump.
All the injector lines were off,the pump and pump drive gears were off the engine.
1:I set the crank pulley at 28 degrees BTDC as as DrAllis told me.
2: Installed injector pump drive gear with dimple on shaft at 12 oclock  position ( I did this because when the injector pump was in time (timing window lines matched up) the pumps shaft slot had the dimple at 12 oclock)
3: I could not find any info on where the #1 line should go one the injector pump I found out myself by setting the pump on time (timing window lines match and shaft dimple at 12 oclock) then looking in the holes where the lines hook up and guess what I could see (silver) aluminum in ever hole except one hole in it I could see another hole as if it went all the way into the pump (would you know that is were the #1 lines hookded up.
4:I then finished the rest of the lines firing order 153624
5: Put it all back together and guess what WALLA IT RUNS!!!!
Fine tuned it and runs like a new one. This was my first diesel ever and now I want to do more of them because I have learned a lot on this on here with DrAllis's help
THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH
