Hello;
Im a long time reader of the sight. I just picked these tractors up on a package deal. I was looking at the WD but the deal was there at the same time I was for once! Neither ran upon pickup but after cleaning carb on the WD and cleaning the contacts on the mag kill switch it fired right up and runs strong. Its been in the garage 2 nights and no leaks. It came with a new 12v battery and wiring harness is in great shape. I changed the sixv bulbs to 12v and got the lights working. I have a 12v generator I am going to put on it...its about an inch longer so a spacer on the back bolt should work. The deere has had the lower engine rebuilt supposedly havent had time to do more yet but ive had it turning over. I am hopeing to get this running and sell it to get a few attachments for the wd and maybe a wide front. I intend on using this tractor and maybe on day redo it. Well anyway great sight and plenty of information to be found here thanks. Link has pictures.

Welcome aboard!!!
Glad to have you.
That's a great idea about the deere, they bring good money typically, should feed the allis habit nicely.

I like that tractor!!! It looks very straight and unabused. Not trying to be mean but you do know that you have some decals off a later tractor with the Power Crater engine (probably WD-45) on there? My WC had Power Crater decals on it and the person actually took the D in WD-45 and cut the back of the D off and cut and turned it around making a WC.

Both look to be in decent shape, I wouldn't sell the A since it is a long hood.
I agree that's a great looking WD. As far as the power crater decals didn't alot of people add the WD 45 kit to there WD's after the 45's came out. Maybe somebody did that to yours. Also you should give the narrow front a try you may like, it they manuver well and don't take up as much space when stored. Welcome to the forum, Pete
On second thought after looking at the pictures again I see it still has the 3 inch head so it probably doesn't have a 45 kit in it. Still a nice WD though.

Thanks for the welcome. The Wd has an older restore on it, so I would quess the WD and the WD45 main stickers are the same with a few stickers being different but included. The guy probably put that crater sticker on and got 1mph faster going down hill and an increase in milage! I live By Princeton IL. on three acres and intend on useing the WD to push snow and other light duty chores. It runs good and has no leaks and has been garage kept and will be, so it should last me a while. I would keep the JD A but I have a Farmall H about 75% restored and a horse drawn grader from the 1890'S among other projects in line and I just wont be able to get to it for a while. I dont know what it would be worth, but it dont eat and its good trading material! I really dont bleed any color...I just hate to see history being hauled off to the scrape heap 1 peice at a time. I caught the bug when I went to buy 1 tractor while still living in town and ended bringing home a whole letter series of farmalls. I finally got some room now to keep some I get partial to and as I am only forty I think a new barn will come in handy some day.

First thing, build a BIG barn. That old saying "You never have enough room" is very true!!
All I can see wrong is it needs a new battery box, absolutely a new shifter boot and possibly new tires. It is missing the Lift Latches, but you can find them easily. GREAT find. Looks in pretty good shape and someone took care of it. Can you get some close ups of how the work light on the rear is attached? Also some pics of the seat hinge? I have never seen one like that. That's a pretty nice looking slant dash. My pap has one. Best running Deere I've ever heard. The battery box lid for those run about 40 bucks. Something so simple costed so much...
