I know what your going to say but before you say it let me say it will not be in my hands long, I hate them.
BUT, I may have a chance to make some money. Found someone who has one for sale, just wants it gone. Doesn't run, he has a new carb for it (says thats why it won't run) and its been sitting in a shed for the past 10-15 years. How much would one go for? I'm not that familiar with them, other then that they are under powered and over hyped. Think it would be something that I could easily buy for cheap and flip to make a couple of dollars?

Morton, I have a 1964 Cub Lowboy that I restored a few years ago. As you said they are not much of a tractor and expensive to restore. Of the AC B's, C's, CA and WD I have I spent more money on the little Cub than any of the others. But that being said I have been offered more for the Cub than any of my other tractors. The Cub's hold a good value. The Lowboys are good for kids to learn to drive on because of the pedel location. They are fun little tractors and don't take up a lot of room. Just be careful on spending to much fixing it up. Joe (TN)

I own two cubs. I mow 4 acres with a woods 59 with one of them. I have a sickle bar mower and a snow plow for the other. They are not underpowered if you use them for what they were intended for. There are so many differant impliments designed for the cub and are readily available.
as far as my Bs I have a woods 59 mower for one of them and I cant find any other impliments for them. I love the B but if I had to I would keep the cubs over the B The cubs are little workhorses, they will do what I need them to do.

Be careful, thats how I got mine and its still sitting around. Fixed the carb problem only to have the front seal go out of the transmission so now it won't engage the pto for the belly mower. As you said, flip it quick. Around here, the average cub will bring $1500 and up depending on condition. Kinda like a ferret, cute little thing, just can't do much with it.
average doesn't have an "n" anymore, fingers automatically want to spell orange. Edited by JW in MO - 07 Mar 2011 at 4:16pm |

You know, One of the easiest used tractors we sold was a Cub. Yes, it was in BAD shape. We advertised it and aperson appeared with CASH IN HAND and was paying our full negotiation price. Remembering what Pop told me I took him carefully through all we could see that was wrong with it. He still paid full price cash. I told him we would deliver it next week our truck was out for the day. He could not wait. Filled the gas tank up and he took off a 7 miles an hour to go over 30 miles. He wanted it that bad. Also, it came to light that he had found another and was going to buy it but it was sold out from under him.
Yes, they are underpowered and the like but they are a "cute" tractor and a GREAT seller in our area.
Good Luck!
