I just need to vent. I ran across add on Tuesday for some Allis equipment so I did the same thing all of us do; called the guy about the stuff and was told yes it's still for sale and yes the prices where right in the add, I said I'd take three or maybe four pieces of them at the price he was asking and I'd come get them on Sat (today) if he can hold them for me and yes he'd hold them till Sat for me; Well you know where this is going don't you. I called him on Fri because some of the stuff was gone from the add the guy said he had let it go  but he had a family member that had one for sale and to call him on Sat. I called and called and the guy called me back and didn't know about selling his stuff and no it was not for sale. If the first guy had said no I will not hold it then I'd not be so mad about the deal. Well I fell better now.  Thanks for letting me have a runaway.

Look on the bright side, at least you didnt make a drive and waste all that time and gas money and come back empty handed!  It always steams me when people do that also.  I had the truck and trailer hooked up and called the guy from my driveway to confirm that he was going to be there and that he had held it overnight like he said he would, and NOPE, its gone.  Better luck next time!

Don I truely know how you feel. Last summer I called about a 0-turn mower in Joplin and told the guy I was 100 miles away and didn't want to make the trip unless he would hold it. I hooked up the trailer and headed that way and called him to get directions. He said he would hold it for sure and he would meet me at a gas station near his house and we could follow him to his house. That should have been a sign to me. when we got to joplin we found the gas station and called and he said he just sold it. I jumped his case and he said he would have called but didn't have my phone no. On the way home he called me back and told me about another 0-turn mower for sale so I asked him where he got my phone number and he told me not to get smart or I'd get hurt.

Kinda makes you wonder if those mowers might be a little warm to the touch........
If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done!

I did have the truck hooked to the trailer all ready to go get my new toys. I have been done this way before so it's not a new thing to me. One of the things that made me mad was that I was going to meet up with a friend (sorry Mike) to go get the stuff and have coffee and pie after we got the stuff loaded, I think this was the last straw. lol
Dustin, This must not have been the same guy; he didn't have a loader and the WD45 was sold days before I had called him.
I have got over it now. THE P.O.S. well for the most part I have. lol
I'll find a new deal and life will get better.  Don

Apparently that guy was a bit overconfident, and didn't live in a must-issue state.

Yep, there's some squirrley folk out there.  The only two things I consider in those situations- if the price is too good to be true, there's something wrong, and that people doing that rarely have allegiance to anything beyond green paper money... and more than likely, the person at the other end of the deal shouldn't be trusted regardless of the result of the deal.

Don, sorry that happened. I know when I talked to you that you were still excited about the remaining stuff.  We have all had that happen; still hard to take every time it happens.  I have had guys show up with cash and try to buy things out from under me; luckily, the seller I was dealing with was honest and good to his word. Hope you find another diamond in the rough soon; that is what makes this hobby fun, along with the people you meet along the way.
