Buy your paint where the local bodyshops do, and where you will get the best support..meaning .. the place that has people who  can answer specific questions  for their product. They should be able to hold your hand and guide you  'til you gain some experience.  Check the yellow pages for auto refinishing supplies or auto parts new, don't waste time with advance, etc , they don't mix paint. You need a NAPA, Carquest, Autovalue jobber.

I have the PO 1 in an acrylic enamel and a polyurethane. I ship the acrylic but I can't ship the urethane because its considered hazardous. the acrylic is a fast dry automotive grade and does need a hardener added to it which can be picked up locally. I also fill my own aerosols. the PO 1 I sell matches the 60080 code number. PM me if you want any more info.

I use PPG Acryic Enamel #60080. It is exellent paint, easy to shoot.
It is expensive, but considering all the work it takes to get a project ready for paint, the last thing you want to scimp on is the paint.
Google PPG paint and find a dealer near you.

I should mention that if you keep your paint in the refrigerator and your hardener in the freezer, it will last for many years.
