I am looking for some advice regarding sickle blades for a New Holland 488 haybine.
I currently am running a set of under serrated blades ( Hershal ) and am wondering if the over serreated blades would be better as it seems that the machine tends to plug up quickly.
Any advise would be appreciated.

We run the over serreated on our 479 NH, works good, and does not plug up.

We were told at an Allis Chalmers Factory meeting that the smooth blade was better then the Allis Chalmers Seratted blade.
Be certain that the timing of the blade is proper. Whereby it goes from center of guard to center of guard. It can be off just a little and be a serious problem.
Hope this is some help cause I can't talk about New Holland only Allis Chalmers
Good Luck!

Put a tiger jaw sickle in it with the double teeth, you will never regret it.

Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives.
