Last year we got a group on 18 tractors together for a 26 mile round trip, half way there we stopped at a diner for breakfast and had a good time. We spent 4 hours at the farm showing our tractors, we pulled out and started home with a day of memories with friends and tractor. I think ours was more fun because it's a group of us who show tractor's together.

Some friends and myself have one to two a year. They haul tractors one time and I haul the next. Our farms are about 25 miles away from each other. We plan a route and just cruise these old tractors. There is usually a hay wagon, (pulled by my WD45) because none of their two cylinders will pull any hills without shifting out of road gear. LOL> I wish they could read that.... Friends and family ride in the hay rack. We live in a beautiful part of SW WI, and it is not hard to find the scenic route.

Our local club has quite a few every year...but most are held when I am too busy to participate...anyway I think they are more fun for those guys that sit around and look at their tractors most of the year because they don't have a reason to use them. I ride mine 40+ hours a week (making $$$)...driving down a road, waiting for the old guys to pee and the JD's to shift down to get up the hills gets boring after awhile....just my take on them. Now Edgeta is imposing more regs to make it even less enjoyable....here's my tractor of choice when I do go on a ride.. ![]() Edited by Eldon (WA) - 10 Feb 2011 at 9:18pm |

This is the one I go in every year. I just joined a tractor club so I'm hoping to go in a few more. Anyone in the Norfolk County area of Ontario? I'd love to see you there!

I usually go on 10 rides a year. I am on the WHO Radio tractor ride which is the one that started the idea. This is going to be the WHO's 15 year of having the ride. It is a 3 day affair with daily mileage of 50 to 70 miles with a morning break, a noon meal and an afternoon break. The ride is now a cloverleaf style ride where we return to the same town every night and leave in a different direction each morning. There are around 600 tractors on this ride. I also go on the WMT radio ride and many other smaller 1 and 2 day rides. It is a very relaxing way to see some new country side that you miss when driving in your car or truck.

I do the Heritage Tractor Adventure. It's a 3 day event that started out following the bike path along the I-M canal. Each year it's a different route. This will be the 10th year. This year its June 11 - 15. Starting in Morris, IL. I also do the Ride the River, which follows the KKK and Iroquois rivers. And a few others. - ALinIL

I have been on a few and they can be great fun. The organizers have always had several stops on the way for eating or tourist attractions etc. I usually have my camera along and have some pictures on my web page here:

I think the Leader made the whole trip, that picture was taken when we walked out after breakfast so it made the trip to the cafe at least. That drive was only a one day drive and the total trip was probably 20 miles.
The Oakes to Madison trip was three days and 210 miles, and the Hutchinson to Hastings was two days and 130 miles or so. |

I think they usually request that all tractors be able to maintain 12 mph for the long drives. You don't drive that fast all day but it would be tough to keep up some of the time if you couldn't go at least that fast. I don't think we got much above 8 mph on the drive from Elbow Lake to Dalton though.

I go on 3 - 5 every year, most are 1 day, at least one is a 3 day ride. When I go with the all Allis Chalmers its a lot of fun, everyone get to know you, everyone stays in line. The smaller local 1 day rides are OK too as everyone knows everyone. The rides that have all makes and a lot of them are not as fun as everyone seems to want to be first so a lot of passing goes on, thats not as fun.

Yes, we have a really good local drive here in Michigan. Last year, there were 98 tractors in the line up. We usually travel 30-40 miles in one day, making about 3-4 stops at local attractions. This is a really fun day for everyone, and last year grandpa, my uncle, and myself drove in it. Here are a couple of pictures from 2 years ago.

Our club has an annual one also. The biggest problem for us with orange is the slow pace that the JD's travel at; about 5 or 6 MPh. I see Eldon has a chain along on his CA, probably to help those green things keep up!!

Hey guys,
I have not been on an official tractor ride. Our church might like to do one to raise money for missions. I have a few questions. 1. How fast do the tractors have to go on the rides you have been on? 2. How much does it cost to enter it? 3. Do you have to have a cert of insurance? 4. What things did you need on your tractor for safety? Thanks for your help and I sure enjoy the photos. Pastor Mike |

Mike in our club you have to have a membership in EDGETA ( http://edgeta.com/ ). Memebership is $8 a year and their insurance covers you on a tractor ride. I can't seem to find the rules on their site...I will look some more.

1. How fast do the tractors have to go on the rides you have been on?
Some are grouped for speed, in mine it was 12 mph to fit the WD45
2. How much does it cost to enter it? Ours was No Charge, you covered your breakfast at the diner.
3. Do you have to have a cert of insurance?
Yes, all tractor had to have that.
4. What things did you need on your tractor for safety? Slow Moving Vehicle mounted on tractor and we used two support trucks at the tail end.
Thanks for your help and I sure enjoy the photos. Pastor Mike Pastor Mike,
You are welcome to ride with us in August, P.M. me if you need more information, ours in on a Sunday so we would enjoy having you.
