I mistakenly energized the grounding stud on the FM mag that I was installing on my CA. It was on for about 2 seconds and now the tractor wont start. I didn't have time to check for spark yet but would that cause the mag to short out and which part would it ruin? Thanks.

Leon, I don't have my books with me right now.  However, I can't think of anything in the mag that should be that sensitive.  If you have spark, it is most likely off time.  Make sure the #1 cylinder is at TDC on compression stroke and the rotor is on the timing lug.  Number one plug wire should be connected to the terminal on top of the mag and nearest to the engine block.  #2 is the top terminal on the side of the mag away from the block.  #4 is directly below #2 and #3 is below #1.  This gives you a 1243 firing order.  I apologize if this is too basic, but lots of people read these and it bares repeating periodically.  There is a slight possibility you blew the condenser.  You can order one, TSC stocks them but are usually out and you have to buy a kit.  NAPA either has them on hand or has them over night.   NAPA Part # FM200 (points are CS-1504.  Sounds like I got a great memory.  Fact is, I keep a note in my wallet with all kinds of ignition part #s on it.  If the mag was taken apart or if you need help finding TDC on compression stroke, send me a message, we need to talk further.

Power to the grounding point could burn out the coil or the points or both. Burning out the coil is expensive. There should be a resistive connection to ground from the grounding point shorted by the points part of the time as you turn the shaft of the magneto. Hurting the condenser by applying power is unlikely.

I did take the back of the mag off today and the spring steel contact for the points was burnt in two. It is a F-M mag but I could not find any #'s. I will check with NAPA first, if not I'll post a picture here to see if anyone has a replacement.
Thanks
