I saw the 6070 on display at the Hutchinson show a few years ago. It would sure be a mirracle to find the 8070! I always wondered what that 8070 would have been used for in Saudi Arabia.

I travel around quite a bit, and look for tractors all the time.
However, I am not going to Saudi Arabia to look for that one.... the last B, maybe, but not that one LOL

If I remember correctly, the last 6070 had 23 hrs on the tach at Hutch.
The guy who owned it has a huge 7000 and 8000 series collection and
his company did the trucking for Allis-Chalmers. I did read that he passed away.

If I remember the story correctly, The guy at Rusk Prairie Farms, was the trucker that was supposed to take the last two tractors to a ship yard for transport over seas to Saudi. He knew the dealer where they were and through some kind of a deal, the one didn't make it over seas. He took it home. Yes, he did pass away, but I don't remember just when. They had a LOT of his tractors in the funeral procession. His widow is going to take good care of his tractors. I would imagine that she will probably open a museum sometime in the future. Sure would be nice to show them off! And yes, it is just outside Menomonie, WI.

They used to grow a lot of wheat and alfalfa to feed people and cattle for milk in Saudi Arabia. Wanting to be self reliant, guess a lot of the land went back to desert when the wells dried up. That 8070 is probably sitting at the edge of an old circle, melting in the sun.

Don Fanetti Menomonie Wis.
Old Allis News Summer 2009 Collection includes last 6070 and a "8095" experimental which there were only 4 made. Picture shows a FWD 8070 that came without motor and Don installed a 426 in. Passed away early 2009 His wife Marilyn assures readers that her late husbands collection will live on. Like previous post said collection is in climate controlled storage. Great article,he hauled tractors out of west allis for years and put all his connections to good use. |
