I see these small 4" x 4" signs on eBay fairly often.(this ones not mine) I'm wondering what their original purpose was in the dealer. They seem too little to use outdoors.

I am pretty sure they were on transformers and there were alot of them,   I still see them on transformers now and again, if you look at substations and see older transformers with big orange balls on the top of the antenna looking things (sorry but I am not an electrician so I dont know what they are called) you will probally find a sign like this but larger, these signs were on the smaller transformers like the one on the pole by the end of your driveway if you live in the country

Yep, those are off of transformers.  A friend from New Hampshire gave me a bunch of those some years back when he was still working.  I made wall hangings out of them by putting them on old barn wood.  Look pretty good.
