The casting broke not the axle, it was going down the track with the wheel. My son was there and he said he never saw people scater that fast before!

I'm suprised that doesn't happen more often. Forty year old tractors making ten times their original horsepower with crazy wheel speed.

Now they will probably require a tether....maybe a cable from the outer end of the housing to the housing on the other side.

One of the reasons why it's important to always be close attention at motorsports events involving dirt... monster-trucks, race cars, pulling tractors, and mudwrestling cheerleaders... sooner or later, somethin's gonna come off.

I always pay attention to the cheerleaders for that very reason.

That's why guys are moving to component tractors---not many steel housings would break like that.

you beat me to it smuggler, I know some people don't like component tractors, but everyone wants to push the power as far as it can go and then work on finding more. Component tractors are fairley safe. I seen a Deere light super diesel split an axil housing one night, then the engine spiked and stuck a plunger. Just one bad thing leading to another and he was lucky to have a tractor to take home.
