I understand Buda parts take some hunting to find at best. Son inlaw is thinking of working on his dads early HD 6. It needs a complete engine overhaul, possible a crank and cam shaft. Is this one of those that parts are worth 2 or 3 times the worth of a running tractor. I don't think there is that much family history in this tractor.

HD6 depending on the year didn't have a Buda, it had an Allis Chalmers based on the Buda design, there is a difference. The very first ones might have had Buda that were left over after the buy out

They have 2 HD 6's and the other one is the latter model. So they know the difference. So I was curious of what others thought about parts. As I asked just hard to find or almost nonexistent and very expensive.
They seem to get into expensive/hard to find parts projects. Have had a IH TD 9 spread across their shop for 3 or 4 years. Needs one piston and sleeve. The only source of new they have found is $3500 per whole. I have found them a local source of used. But probably need to take the whole tractor. But way less than $3500.
