Looking at one but I don’t know what tonnage it is. Cat no 2051584, serial number 8-4437. My guess is it’s a 8 ton?

It’s a model AC 800 running gear. Yes 8 ton. It should have its reach pipe that goes straight through the rear frame & then is flatten & becomes its rear hitch.

Would it extend enough to make a 16’ hay wagon?

16’ hay rack? You decide. Maybe if it allows for 5 feet of overhang? Overhang could be combination that includes both front & rear frames(wheel base). Typically, the front overhang is less than rear? I’d put more emphasis on its hitch tongue length per it’s application.
Standard tongue 72”.
Adjusting tongue with spring lock pin ~ 90” & could be extended.
Which tongue is it?

The wheel base info was listed on their OEM sales brochure. I don’t have an AC sales brochure for the 800 (era 1969-72?).
I do have its predecessor 1966 OEM sales brochure FE379-668 for the AC 701 (7ton) & it states;
-Track: 75”,
-Wheel base: 7’-1” to 11’.
-Turning Radius: 11’ (7’-1”),
-Stake adjustment: 38” - 42”,
-Weight: 510 lbs.

Here’s a 2024 link where Mikez posted a 1969 AC dealer’s order sheets for running gears. On his 1st page near the bottom, it list “extra length telescoping poles”.
So it was an option.
Maybe try extending the 800 & if it’s not to your liking, buy some pole pipe & fab it to your desired length??

Mine has a 16' deck on it.  Used to be a forage wagon, but still has the standard length reach with the flattened end.
