In another thread I mentioned that my CA had no evidence of there ever having been a rear main oil seal in it, well, my Grandson pulled the manifold off to put a new one on and lo and behold, there was no manifold gasket whatsoever! just a film of blue RTV silicone. Yikes! Two of the exhaust ports showed slight leakage but the intakes appeared to be sealed nicely. It ran well. |

Back in the 70s I've knew racers and old time SuperStock pullers that used RTV for manifold gaskets. When I first heard about it, I thought: No that can't work, but it does. With the removal of asbestos from the manifold gaskets, I always use some Red RTV around the port holes. That is the only thing that I've found to make the new type manifold gaskets last more than a few years.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |

Ford built literally millions of engines with no exhaust manifold gaskets, but this is the first time I have seen an engine with no gasket on the intake.
